Pots from the Miair Residency
Here are some pots by some of the artists involved with the Miair Residency.
First, the hardworking Thomas Aitken had pots in the first firing of the new salt kiln at the Medalta International Artists in Residence (Miair) studio. I love this plate of Tom's with a sage imprint...

Here are some pots by Marty Shuter, one of the invited artists at Miair this year. They were fired in the new soda kiln at the Miair residency.

The above chicken is about a foot tall. Below are her "chick magnets", which are just a couple of inches big.

..and here is a steel-handled teapot and some other pots made made be Aaron Nelson. He taught the kiln building course where we built the new salt and soada kilns, and is also part of the Miair Residency. He developed a translucent low fire porcelain, which is what these pots are made of:

Here is part of the show at the Medicine Hat Cultural Center by Marty Shuter, who was one of the MIAIR invited artists. This skillet-ash tray was made from an actual mold that Medalta used in production years ago. Marty used some of the old ash tray mold to cast a backdrop for some of her chickens with a strap ons.

Here are some of her wall mounted chickens...the eight point clucks...
