Mackenzie Frere: super cool weaving master, web & blog guru

Have I mentioned my friend Mackenzie Frere lately?  If you are interested in craft or the arts, he is worth checking out.  He is a fantastic weaver and great guy I met years ago while getting my undergrad at the Alberta College of Art and Design.  He went on to complete his MFA at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2005 and is now teaching at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary.  Check out his website at www.mackenziefrere.com.   He also curates an online, cross-discipline gallery called poplargallery.online.  A while ago he had us in the online gallery; we can still be found in the archives on the site.

Anyway, Mackenzie has an exciting show coming up soon in Quebec.  He will be part of a show called Lieux de memoire, which is curated by Denis Longchamps.  Here is the link:

The image “http://www.mackenziefrere.com/sitebuilder/images/index.html-7.png” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

It will be at a historic mill- turned-gallery, located at Moulin de La Chevrotière 109, rue de Chavigny, Deschambault-Grondine, Quebec.

Mackenzie also has a great Blog called art cloth text.  He even posted a great photo I sent him of the cast of a 1920 Macbeth run here in Maple Creek.  Scroll down to check it out; it's awesome.

Mackenzie is in Quebec right now getting ready for his show, which I will be following on his blog.  Yay Mackenzie!!
