the cow has come home

The Smiling Cow Studio has recently found a home! We moved to Maple Creek, near the beautiful Cypress Hills of South Saskatchewan, in June of 2007. If you have never been to the Cypress Hills, you should check them out; they are stunning.

Our studio is attached to our 1915 house. It used to be a screened in "sleeping porch", as we found out today. The Grandaughter of the man who built the house, William Watson, just happened to be in the province, and thought she'd take look at her grandfather's old house. It was great to hear her describing the place as she remembered it as a child. We also learned that William built many houses in Maple Creek, including one two doors down. We thought they looked similar!

Our new old house needs many renovations, including the covered in sleeping porch/studio. I won't even think about what it looked like when we moved in!

Soon we were making pots though...

..and here is what the studio is looking like today. The glazing space and the kiln are in the basement. I'll put up some photos of them when I get some tidying done!
